Zdeněk Miler, 1921-2011

Zdeněk Miler, Krtek's creator, died yesterday. I've written about Krtek, the little mole, before. He is the most gracious and kind of Czech illustrated characters and a dear friend of the children. He's also a constant in young kids' lives here, ours not excepted.

Mr. Miler will be much missed.

How sad to lose a creator of clever characters.

Ach, nein! I grew up with the kleine Maulwurf! So good to know the history of the character. All this time I had no idea, Julia!

Just trying out my new blogonym.

Aha, it works.

Alas the new blog (which should really have an attribution to you somewhere) has failed in its primary aim and is attracting comments. Many thanks, as usual, for the way you gee-ed me up.

Rouchswalwe - Let me know and I can dig up videos for you, there are so many that are fun to see, and as he doesn't speak it doesn't matter about language version at all.

BB (LdP) - excellent to see you back! I'll be over to inflict you with more shortly.

Thank you so much, sweet Julia! I've found one of my favourites on youtube ... the little mole and the music! When his record breaks and the mouse tries to help out, it's such a wonderful feeling!
